The Liardet Community Centre on the corner of Nott Street named after Port Melbourne’s community-minded founder. The building was once the Temperance Hall in the days of intense campaigning against the demon drink. The Liardet Community Centre is the meeting place of multicultural seniors groups and English classes. The City of Port Phillip has a mixed population from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Opposite at 147 Liardet Street is the former Port Melbourne fire station.
