Port Melbourne Fire Station

This Fire Station was opened in 1939 and designed by prominent Melbourne architect, Harry Winbush. Winbush later went on to become the head of the Architectural School at RMIT and the President of the Victorian chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects. Winbush is best known for the grandstand at Windy Hill Football ground. The fire station has an attached residence that occupies the corner of the site, and looks remarkably similar to the houses across the road in the Garden City estate, and the nearby Dunstan Estate. The fire station is still operational and is MFB station number 39.
