A farewell to soldiers about to leave for World War 1 is in progress in a room at the Sir Robert Peel Hotel in Wellington Street. A long table holding bottles and plates is in the middle of the room, surrounded by 60 or 70 rather glum men, mostly young. One or two are in uniform. Among them is Arthur Towers. The room has been rather haphazardly decorated with crepe paper and flags.
